…you feel the juddering impact of low life against the high hopes on which politics and community spirit rely, and it leaves you shaking. As one man says, summing up both the plot and mood, “do me a favor.  Don’t do me any favors.”…and when Brad Pitt rounds off the film with the statement “America’s not a country. It’s just a business. Now pay me my fucking money,” you half want to open your mouth and complain. But you don’t. You shut up and listen.
